Upshot Commerce, (formerly Make-a-Store) was founded by Neal Kaiser while studying computer science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He created one of the first ecommerce companies in 1994 and has been quietly been building and deploying ecommerce solutions since. A few years and several hundred clients later, Upshot is at the forefront of ecommerce innovation. Upshot Commerce is located in the wicked cool city of Boston, MA.

Neal Kaiser
Chief Executive Officer
Neal is the founder and CEO of Upshot Commerce (formerly Make-a-Store, Inc.), a leading provider of convergent commerce solutions. He envisioned and led the creation of countless mission-critical applications relied upon by retailers around the world. These include inventory and order management systems, fulfillment tools, online merchandising software, tax and financial management systems, wholesale tools, and numerous other technology solutions. Additionally, Neal led his team's integration efforts with companies such as eBay, Amazon, Sage, and numerous other channel marketing, POS and ERP systems.

Neal has over 18 years of experience leading and managing ecommerce and technology projects for over 500 companies including NASA, the Department of Justice, Tea Collection, The Boston Globe, Cambridge Soundworks and the US National Gallery of Art.

Neal created Make-a-Store, Inc. in 1994, while still in college, making his company among the first ecommerce companies in the world. He also developed one of the first automated registration and provisioning applications for ISP customers.

Neal is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a bachelors degree in computer science. He resides in Boston with his wife and their three children. When not working, Neal plays jazz guitar in various bands and participates with several charities, including the Children's Health Fund, Feed My Starving Children and the PKD Foundation.
Derek Stringfellow
Chief Business Development Officer
Derek leads the business development efforts for Upshot Commerce.

Prior to joining Upshot Commerce, Derek was the president of Another Place, a marketing, advertising and promotions agency where he was responsible for managing client relationships and overseeing the creation and launch of both online and traditional media initiatives. Projects included live event planning, media buying and web site design. Derek has extensive roster of happy clients around the world including include Paramount Pictures, BMG and Sony.
Rebecca Traxler
Project Management Director
Rebecca acts as the director of project management for Upshot Commerce. In this capacity she enthusiastically guides ecommerce and marketing projects from beginning through end.

Prior to joining Upshot Commerce, Rebecca was a project manager for Oompa.com, where she oversaw the creative team as well as website development. She also managed relationships with numerous national and international manufacturers. Rebecca has worked with a number of other websites including Lunchboxreviews.com and Faculte.com, assisting in website layout and content management.

Rebecca graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Liberal Arts. When not working, she enjoys cycling, baking and blurry photography.
Vlad Zachary
Director of Omni Channel Commerce
Vlad leads product and solutions development at Upshot Commerce.

Before joining the company, Vlad was the Mobile Product lead at Demandware, Omni-Channel product manager at Micros and co-founder at Pingwyn. At Demandware Vlad drove strategic direction for mobile applications and crafted Mobile roadmap for the e-commerce platform. He helped design the User Experience for a reference iOS-native product catalog for retailers. At Micros, Vlad detailed strategic Omni-channel integration needs and helped launch a Customer Advisory Board. As a co-founder at Pingwyn, Vlad took a concept from a back-of-the-napkin idea stage and guided the design, development and launch of one of the first mobile, location-based networking platforms.

Vlad has an MBA from Babson College, and resides in the Boston area with his wife, their two children and two dogs. In addition to work Vlad is into organic gardening and occasionally tries to catch a wave with his 9-foot surfboard.
